June dinner and presentation meeting

  • Auburn Hotel Hawthorn

A cracker of a night!

Thursday 23 June, Auburn Hotel, Hawthorn Melbourn

No Zoom broadcast tonight - recording instead

First, FESA member Peter Paras of Intrax Consulting Engineers will uncover mediation.  He is a Chartered Professional Engineer with about thirty-five years of structural and civil engineering consulting experience, including residential, commercial and industrial buildings and structures.

Peter is an accredited mediator (NMAS), a panel Conciliator at DBDRV (Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria) and a Member of the Building Appeals Board of Victoria, where he carries out conciliations and mediations.  He will speak to FESA about concepts and the processes of mediation – how it works, what issues arise, how resolutions are achieved, and the benefit that forensic/expert reports have with disputes at mediation.

Peter’s expert reporting experience has included structural/building assessment of building damage and defects, inspections and forensic investigations, damage causation investigation, and acting as an expert witness in legal proceedings at VCAT, at the Building Appeals Board and at courts.

Second, FESA member and engineer Tom Dohrmann is a professional mechanical engineer who has worked in automotive design,  ergonomics and forensic investigations for sixteen years.

Tom will describe the complexities of converting a new US muscle-ute (the F150, selling here soon) to right hand drive.  Ten minutes with a spanner?  Not at all.  Apart from the new mechanicals and the re-manufacture of parts, there is a mountain of human factors work (vision, reach, control) bound to interest accident reconstructionists and members.  Tom is an automotive engineer with Ford Australia, part of an Australian auto engineering design team punching above its weight globally.

Book here now to attend drinks (complimentary) from 6:30, with  a sit-down dinner and presentations from 7:00 pm.  Again, Thursday 23 June.

Please note:  ONLY on-line bookings are accepted.  No walkups or payments on the night!  We are not going to broadcast the session on Zoom, but instead will shortly make good recordings available online (on the FESA website) for our financial members.
